Auburn Clay & Amelia Ann

As a photographer based in Indianapolis, Indiana, I’m lucky to know many talented and creative people. Two of my closest friends, Kaycie and Velton, own small businesses in the area and needed updated imagery for their brands. Kaycie owns Auburn Clay and creates beautiful clay earrings, while Velton and his wife, Megan, make custom-made bracelets through their business, Amelia Ann. We decided to spend a day together creating content for their websites and social media accounts.

We started out with a brainstorming session as we discussed different concepts and ideas for the shoots. We wanted to create images that reflected each business’s unique style and personality. Once we had a general plan, we started planning out the details. We had to consider the weather, props, models, and outfits. We were all in charge of different aspects of the shoot and worked together to make sure that everything was ready for the big day.

When the day of the shoot arrived, we were all excited to get started. The models arrived, outfits ready, and props set. The idea was to soft launch their fall collection, but in order to do so, we were shooting the mid August heat. We started shooting outside, and it wasn’t soon before our models, Kaylee and Kierra, were sweltering in the sun. We moved over inside my house where I had set up a makeshift studio to start shooting more bracelets and earrings.

At the end of the day, we were all exhausted but very satisfied with the results. We had created a lot of great content for both businesses, and I was proud of what we had accomplished. Not only did we have fun creating the photos, but we also had a chance to work together and support each other’s businesses. It was a great experience and I’m looking forward to more collaborations with my creative friends.
